How do you Define Ego?
An individual’s conditioning, beliefs and coping strategies stored and processed within and by the individual’s brain, also referred to as the person’s lower mind.
How do you define Soul?
An energetic body that emanates from the spirit or center line (Source) in the high heart area (between heart and throat) of the body. In a fully embodied (integrated) state, this energy matriculates throughout and around the entire physical body. This energy has no religious affiliation and survives the death of the physical body and ego. This energy is personal rather than transpersonal and is responsible for the decisions made in each life. It functions as the higher mind, interacting with (filtered by) the lower mind (ego). On a personal level, it is who you are, but it has free will and can self-identify in the manner of its choosing. In other words, it can self-identify exclusively with the ego making it seem as though you (as your soul) are your ego.
How do you define Personality?
A person’s nature or character resulting from the interaction of the soul and ego. When you interact with another person you are witnessing their personality, which is their soul filtered by their ego. The more that person exhibits fear-based behavior, the more they (their soul) are allowing themselves to be influenced by their ego.
How do you define Source?
A higher power or creative force that has many names including God and others. It is the creator of All That Is and it animates All That Is. Energetically, in the human body, this force manifests as the spirit or center line running vertically through the body and infinitely beyond, above and below.
How do you define Spiritual Development?
We regard spiritual development as the process of spiritualizing matter to harmonize one’s personal self (physical body, ego and soul) with Source with the goal of attaining unity consciousness.
Will using BodySound technology help my meditation practice?
Many people learn meditation as a means of relaxing. Unfortunately, since most meditation practices are mainly mental, they do not cause as much physical relaxation as occurs with BodySound technology. With a greater degree of physiologic relaxation, meditation sessions generally improve significantly. The states of consciousness that are routinely achieved after using BodySound technology are generally quite consistent with more advanced states of meditation. This is not only due to improved levels of physiologic relaxation, but also due to increased spiritual energy flow as occurs with the technology.
Is the use of this technology contrary to religious teachings?
We view the use of our technology to be similar in nature to most deep relaxation and meditation practices. If you decide to use the technology in association with prayer or intention, then it is more a matter of how you pray or what you intend as to whether or not your thoughts are in conflict with any religious teachings. How you believe is a personal matter that is independent of the technology.
The instructional material, which is provided as an example, contains references to soul, Source and associated energy structures that we believe are part of the human energy system. This informational content includes beliefs that are of a spiritual nature, which some people may interpret as inconsistent with some religious concepts. We consider our beliefs to be just that, beliefs and not truths. Who is to say, other than Source, what the absolute truth is?
Does the technology produce altered states of consciousness?
Using BodySound technology and our methodology for deep relaxation one learns to develop conscious awareness, while allowing the body to be asleep or nearly so. This state can be learned quickly and it does represent an altered state of consciousness – mind awake, body asleep. One can extend this state into a deep state of meditation. The advantage of this methodology is that it frees the higher mind (soul) from the brain-based ego, which is rendered less or non-functional in the process.
If I fall asleep will it still be beneficial?
As in any form of relaxation or meditation training, one may fall asleep and then the benefit gained is equivalent to a nap. However, that is less likely with BodySound technology as fluctuating sound and vibration are the two best stimuli used in waking one. It is more typical to lose conscious awareness during a session without being asleep. In our experience these types of sessions tend to be very transformative. It appears that it is sometimes required that the ego be shut down in order for some transformative spiritual processes to proceed. When this happens one tends to lose awareness. Sometimes this happens in phases, in the process of successively expanding one’s conscious awareness. Sometimes sessions with reduced awareness may occur for months, however after most sessions the client generally reports that the session was very restorative, did not feel like sleep, and over time they tend to report that they are experiencing changes in themselves and their lives.
Does the technology produce out-of-body experiences?
Individuals with narcolepsy, particularly if they experience sleep paralysis (waking from a dream and being unable to move for one to two minutes) either associated with their narcolepsy or independently may experience classically described out-of-body experiences with this technology. Rarely, other individuals without narcolepsy or sleep paralysis will too. More commonly, particularly in individuals who are not well integrated spiritually with their body (tend not to be fully in-body due to many reasons such as pain, fear and/or traumatic memories) there is a tendency to further shift their conscious awareness outside of their body to experience metaphysical states and phenomena. We recommend greater spiritual integration, thus allowing for the same experiences, while remaining in-body.
What are common energetic experiences that I may have in session?
Users commonly report a number of experiences associated with energetic movement and shifts. Oftentimes users report warmth in a body part (often the hands) or more generalized. Some report goose bumps or a sense of chills without being cold. Some users report a sense of internal shaking at their core with a sense of discomfort that may accompany release of subconscious trauma. These releases don’t require a replay of the associated traumatic memories.
Do some energetic phenomena experienced in session outlast the session?
On rare occasions users experience what feel like a shift in their energy that tends to signify a release. These releases typically consist of energetic blocks which formerly impeded more normal energy flow throughout that area. As a result, more normal energy flow can then ensue. The changes that result may not be perceptible immediately or even long term, but sometimes they result in more obvious beneficial changes. On rare occasions these shifts can occur around the brain and temporarily interfere with normal functioning between brain and mind. These usually affect certain memories or patterns of behaviors and my even last a day or two before resolving. In our experience these latter shifts are often associated with a sense of elevated mood, but can be accompanied by concern particularly if the subject is not aware of the cause.
Will all of my sessions be enjoyable?
It is more likely that all or most of your sessions will be beneficial even if some of them are not enjoyable. As one’s ego is rendered less functional, one’s guard is reduced allowing suppressed memories to surface. As a result one may experience those memories. Typically, one is relaxed and in an altered state of consciousness during the process resulting in re-experiencing the memories with less emotional charge. Sessions where these types of experiences and emotional releases occur tend to be cathartic in nature. These types of sessions tend to be regarded by the client as profound rather than enjoyable. Similarly, some memories that are of a painful nature may surface causing sadness, grief or anger. When they surface it is time for the underlying issues to be dealt with and subsequently released.
Some individuals, particularly those with chronic pain, may experience an exacerbation of their pain during the session. This occurs as one becomes better integrated with his or her body. The client typically has not been well integrated because of the pain (not wanting to be in-body thus avoiding the pain). We strongly recommend allowing the pain to develop during the process of integration in the hopes that it will release. If it does not release it tends to subside to its former level of discomfort after or soon after the session.
What are the expected outcomes of use?
Relaxation, spiritual development and personal growth. The outcomes tend to directly parallel the time spent in sessions and a person’s willingness to surrender to the process by letting go of the need to control. This is an exercise in learning to be rather than do. This is accomplished by allowing.
How will I know if the technology is working?
You should feel more relaxed and notice that you and your life are changing. Other people tend to notice as well, but they may not volunteer that information. On the other hand, some people around you may inform you of changes they perceive before you will admit to perceiving those changes in yourself.
When will I see results?
The relaxation benefits tend to emerge after the first or second session and then they deepen thereafter. How quickly one develops changes in regards to their spiritual development depends upon multiple factors. These include: your present level of spiritual integration, the sensitivity of your feeling nature, your need for control, resistance to change, adherence to beliefs and your life path/plan.
How often should I use the technology?
As often as you derive benefit from it, which probably results in no less than once per week and probably not more than once per day. In our experience the after-effects seem to last on average about 2 days, which would suggest that one should participate in sessions three times per week to maintain an effect most of the time.
Can the technology be addicting?
In our experience we have not found this to be the case. If you perform daily sessions, particularly if you do those sessions at the same time each day, your body will become conditioned to move into that state of being at that time. If however, you do not do a session at that prescribed time, you should be able to function as you normally do.
Would more than one session per day be more beneficial?
During our time of peak experimentation we performed one session early in the morning and one session in the evening. It is not clear to us whether that was more beneficial than one session per day for spiritual development. It may be more beneficial if one is early in the process of learning relaxation and the added practice demonstrably results in a clear reduction in signs of stress.
What is the best time of day to use the technology?
We generally recommend first thing upon wakening, unless you are using it to deeply relax before falling asleep for the night. Also, early in the process when learning to deeply relax it is best to perform your session during the time of day in which you may be fatigued, such as later in the afternoon.
Is there a point when the technology will no longer help me?
Probably not. Just like meditation for spiritual development, there is no endpoint.
If I stop using the technology will I regress?
People using the technology tend to develop changes in themselves in session and then over time those changes transfer into daily life. When one stops using the technology they generally tend to maintain much or most of what they have already transferred into their life. They tend to lose what has not yet transferred. In addition, how much a person regresses also depends on the level of spiritual integration they have achieved, whether they have developed and continue a mindfulness practice and whether they incorporate that practice into making life’s decisions.
How do I prepare to use the technology?
You should be adequately hydrated and your bladder should be empty to avoid disrupting your session with the need to urinate. It is often helpful to have consciously determined what your intentions are for the session and even perform your grounding routine before sitting in the chair. This is helpful as you will quickly become conditioned to move into an altered state of consciousness as soon as you sit in the chair and you would like to preserve that effect without having the need to engage your mind in order to set intentions and ground. It is also very helpful to adopt an attitude of letting go and allowing what will be as opposed to trying to drive a particular outcome, before and during your session.
What does the technology do?
BodySound technology induces a profound state of relaxation and stimulates the human energy system. These two processes work synergistically to facilitate perceivable spiritual experiences with our physical senses that can greatly assist with your spiritual practice and development.
What are the negative side effects of the technology?
At present we have not encountered any negative side effects. However, on occasion, some people (particularly those with a history of chronic pain) will experience localized or rarely generalized pain as they allow their soul to matriculate throughout their body (to be in their body). The pain will typically release during the session or subside afterwards. Also on occasion, some people will experience emotional discomfort during or shortly following the session. On rare occasions, an energetic shift can affect the interface between mind and brain and thereby affect memory. This state may last hours or a day or so and typically reflects a release of an energetic block. These occurrences are all part of the spiritual development process, tend to be short-lived and actually reflect progress.
Who should NOT use the technology?
If you have a pacemaker we recommend that you check with your physician before using the technology because there is vibration associated with the technology and some pacemakers interpret vibration as movement and will adjust heart rate accordingly.
Will the use of the technology hurt my hearing?
According to OSHA, exposure to sound levels at greater than 85 decibels for more than an hour can cause hearing damage. We recommend playing the sound lower than that level. To determine the sound level produced, sit in the seat and turn it on. Use a decibel meter to measure the level of sound (at the level of your ears) and make sure you are using safe sound levels.
Should I leave my hearing aid in?
We don’t advise listening to the music and so we advise you to remove your hearing aid for the session.
Is it safe to use if I’m pregnant?
We are not aware of any ill effects experienced by the expectant mother or fetus or infant if being nursed or held.
Will the seating length support a tall person?
The contoured length is 72 inches (6 feet) long. If you are taller, your feet may hang over the edge or the top of your head may extend above the top. However, use of a cushion on either end can remedy that situation for many taller individuals.
Are there any restrictions related to age or capability?
An individual should be old enough and capable of maintaining a reclined seated posture for the duration of the session, preferably without the support of another individual to avoid external distraction and stimulation.
Will the use of the technology affect my sleep?
Once you become an adept user and you can exist in a mind awake, body asleep condition, or if during much of your session you have lost conscious awareness, then your time in session becomes more equivalent to time asleep. As a result you will generally require less sleep, when you sleep. In general, we recommend that sessions be performed first thing in the morning. In fact we suggest that you rise an hour earlier and after a trip to the bathroom, immediately do your session, unless you are doing sessions to relax in order to assist you in falling asleep and then you would do them immediately prior to sleep.
Will sessions affect my appetite?
In general, no, however once you become more adept at maintaining conscious awareness and are very active energetically during the session, then you may experience hunger after the session. This is presumably due to the calories used during those energetic processes.
Is it safe to drive right after a session?
Some of your sessions may be so deeply relaxing or energetically expansive that you should not drive immediately after completing the session. We recommend that you walk around for a few minutes until you are mentally clear and fully grounded in the physical before driving. Chances are, that after a session you will pay a visit to the bathroom anyway as most people experience an increase in urine production during sessions. This excursion is usually sufficient to prepare you for driving.
Will use of the technology help my medical condition?
BodySound technology is not a medical device. As such we do not make any medical claims requiring FDA approval or clearance to market. However, the medical community in general and in particular, the holistic and integrative medical approach does support relaxation, meditation and prayer as being beneficial lifestyle practices.
Will use of the technology interfere with my medications?
We are not aware of any side effects of the technology, however use of the technology can significantly reduce stress. Many disease conditions result from or are made worse by stress. Therefore, reducing stress that is causing or worsening a condition for which you are receiving medications may cause a need for a dosage adjustment. This should be addressed EXCLUSIVELY by your prescribing physician.
Should I inform my physician or treatment provider that I am using this technology?
We would recommend doing so. Let them know that you are using this technology to facilitate greater relaxation and / or spiritual development. Relaxation (stress reduction) has been shown to impact disease conditions and your physician or treatment provider may wish to monitor your progress and make adjustments to other therapies as needed.
Will use of the technology affect my relationships?
If use of the technology creates substantive change in you, then those around you will tend to notice and be impacted. They may perceive the changes positively and like the “new you.” Alternatively, if for instance you are in a relationship with another person that is dependent on you and you decide to change your boundaries (the rules governing that relationship) then they may not perceive the changes in you positively. We recommend that users consciously strive to live in healthy relationships, which often is not the case, but can be.
How much does the BodySound Chaise cost?
The suggested retail price is $2,799 US, but is subject to change. Please contact the company for up to date pricing.
Can I purchase a chair direct from the manufacturer?
Chairs are typically sold through our distributors. However, the company will sell direct to people that wish to evaluate the product in order to become a distributor.
What other equipment is required to operate with a BodySound Chaise?
The BodySound Chaise contains the transducers and amplifier within its structure. However the music source – a device, such as a CD or Mp3 player is not provided. We do provide appropriate cabling and a CD with layered music content. The CD or Mp3 player must have its own volume adjustment capability as that is how you adjust the volume of the chair.
If you wish to run more than one chair simultaneously using the same music source device you will need to obtain a signal splitter – please see Product – Operating Instructions.
Can I run multiple chairs at the same time using different music or starting them at different times?
To do this requires that each chair has its own sound source. We would also recommend that the users wear headphones with the headphone volume at a comfortable level, but not turned off, so as to block the sound from the adjacent chair(s).
What do I need to do for maintenance of a BodySound Chaise?
No maintenance is required, however if any rattles or extraneous noises develop then inspect the product for loose bolts and tighten where necessary.
How long will a BodySound Chaise last?
Planned obsolescence is not part of the design. This product is designed and constructed in a manner to ensure a long useful life. If a part fails, it can generally be replaced very easily, with the exception of the seating structure itself, but even replacing that is far less expensive than replacing the entire unit.
Can I transport the BodySound Chaise?
Yes you can, but it is best to do after removing the seating structure from the base and transporting in two parts, unless you have sufficient room to transport fully assembled.
Is there a weight restriction for the BodySound Chaise?
There is a 300 pound weight restriction in order to limit the possibility of cracking the fiberglass.
Can more that one person fit in a BodySound Chaise?
The structure itself is not wide enough to accommodate two people, let alone adhering to the weight restriction. However, a parent holding a small child or infant should not represent a problem as long as the parent remains vigilant so as to not drop the child.
Can I play music other than that provided with the BodySound Chaise?
It is entirely your choice as to what music to play. We recommend experimenting with various types of music to determine what works best for you. Remember however that if you are actively listening to the music you are probably not in a state of consciousness that will confer the benefit normally associated with the usage of this technology. We recommend avoiding music with vocals as they can be alerting, causing you to pay too much attention to the music and also hard rock and heavy metal music as they can be disruptive.
Will other music produce the same results as the music provided?
We provide layered music – multiple tracks of music that play simultaneously so that the melody is frequently changing. This causes your brain to stop paying attention to the music faster, which turns off your auditory sense. This in combination with habituating your sense of touch and vision (eyes closed) renders the brain and ego less functional. Other music won’t accomplish this task as well. Once you become adept at this process you’ll find that you are not really listening to the music and at that point it generally doesn’t matter what you play as long as you are playing it on a regular basis such that you accommodate to it. In addition, the music should contain full spectrum audio (full range of audio frequencies) in order to supply the magnetic field with a full range of frequencies.
Will sessions have the same effect if they only last 30 minutes?
Sessions are practice. You are practicing attaining a state of being or consciousness that is transformative. The more you can be in these deeper states, the more benefit you will obtain. However, 30 minutes is better than nothing, but recognize that the benefits will take longer to appear versus sessions that are longer.
Should I dedicate all of my sessions to spiritual development?
If you are doing two or three sessions per week, then we would recommend that you dedicate most of them to spiritual development. If, for instance, you are doing sessions almost daily then we would recommend that you experiment with about half your sessions so you may learn better ways to make progress or simply have some fun. Every person will ultimately create their own path, so conscious experimentation can be very helpful in this regard.
Can I watch and listen to TV while in the chair?
You certainly can input the sound from TV broadcasts into the BodySound Chaise and listen with the headphones. If you do this, but predominantly use the technology for relaxation or spiritual development, don’t be surprised when your relaxation conditioning kicks in and you begin to feel relaxed. On the other hand, if you use it often for TV viewing and listening, then the conditioned response that you’ve developed for relaxation will be somewhat lessened, although you won’t lose the capability to relax that you’ve learned during sessions. The conditioned response is simply the psychological and physiological response that you experience due to anticipating what will happen in the chair, even before turning on the music. It is your conditioning resulting from prior experience.
Can a therapist perform energy work on a client while the client is using the technology?
There is no contraindication to performing energy work on a client using BodySound technology. The technology itself is a form of energy work and so the therapist and technology would be working together in this manner.
Does it matter if my session is interrupted?
Unless you are already adept at maintaining an advanced state of spiritual integration, interrupting the session with a phone call or any other external distraction will be like restarting the session. In fact, we recommend that if an interruption occurs relatively early in the session, that you restart the session. In general, please dedicate this time to your development without interruption.
